RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: THE ADAPTATION
Fri 18 Apr 2008 thru Sat 19 Apr 2008
The Hollywood Theatre

Columbia Post is proud to be co-sponsoring the first-ever Portland screening of this amazing shot-by-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark filmed by three 12 year old boys in 1981.

This legendary cult film has long been a tantalizing rumor, but on April 18 and 19 it will celebrate its Portland premiere at the historic Hollywood Theatre.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation was filmed by three 12 year old boys in Mississippi in 1981. After dedicating seven years of their lives to filming the remake to include all special effects, their version was "in the can."

For over 20 years, this mysterious underground film was virtually never screened for the public – until it was rediscovered by director Eli Roth (Hostel, Grindhouse) and acclaimed by original Raiders of the Lost Ark director Steven Spielberg.

2008 Oscar™ winning producer Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men) has purchased the rights for Paramount Pictures to make a biographical film about the intrepid young filmmakers' ambitious journey to remake Raiders of the Lost Ark. Dan Clowes (Ghost World) is scripting their biopic.

The filmmakers will be fresh from presenting their film at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch as part of their World Tour of sold-out showings everywhere from San Francisco to New York and from Austin to Germany. They've also been filmed for on-air interviews with the BBC and Turner Classic Movies.

Portland Screenings of The Adaptation will raise funds for the Austin Miller Scholarship Fund of Film Action Oregon, a non profit arts organization. Austin was a talented and creative young man who attended the 2006 Project Youth Doc program which provided part of his inspiration to become a filmmaker. On February 11, 2008 15-year-old Austin was killed while riding his bicycle home from high school. In memory of Austin and his inimitable spirit, Film Action has established the Austin Miller Scholarship Fund to support other youth participating in Film Action's educational programs. Tax-deductible contributions to the scholarship fund may also be made through Film Action's website www.filmaction.org or by calling 503.493.1128.

Also, on the afternoon of Saturday, April 19, the Raiders Adaptation filmmakers will provide a free lecture on filmmaking to all Portland area youths interested in movies and the motion picture industry.
